Conservative League Accepts HLU Offer

Worthington Explains Forum Plans May Delay Debate on Russian-American Relations

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Robin Worthington '47, Chairman of the Conservative League, last night conditionally accepted, on behalf of his group, the debate challenge extended earlier by the HLU.

HCL "is very much interested in the debate," he said, but, "cannot make a decision on this question or set a date" until after a meeting next week at which it will discuss a contemplated forum and determine the group's general policy. Worthington added that the earliest possible date for the encounter between the two organizations would be "about the middle of May."

Earlier in the day the Debate Council had entered the picture by proposing itself as sponsor of the debate in an open letter to both organizations.

The letter stressed the importance of deciding on the phase of Russo-American relations to be discussed and suggested a meeting of all three organizations for this purpose.
