Boston College's talented baseball team opens its season against the Varsity this afternoon at 4 o'clock in the Eagles' Newton roost. Picked by Hub sportswriters as the strongest team in the Boston area, the Eagles reputedly have former all-scholastic diamond stars liberally sprinkled at all positions, and a couple of veteran hurlers back from former seasons.

Late yesterday afternoon Coach Adolph Samborski still had not decided on his starting pitcher. "I want to talk to the boys before the game tomorrow," Samborski said, "and I'll-start the one who's best in the warmups. It'll either be Jack Wallace, Brendon Reilly or Ira Godin."

Both Godin and Wallace pitched against Connecticut last Friday while Reilly faced Northeastern in Thursday's contest.

Crusader Lineup to Start

Samborski plans to field the same team which started in the Holy Cross game on Saturday and until the last inning held a three run lead over the only squad in this area which was rated as the equal of the Boston College outfit.

Weather reports last night predicted cloudy skies and low temperatures to continue all day, and Samborski felt there was a strong possibility that the game will have to be called off. In any case, a return game with the Eagles is scheduled two weeks hence.

The lineup: Forte, 2b.; Caulfield, c.f.; Fitz, 1b; Coulson, l.f.; Lunder, r.f.; Mariashin, ss.; Coppinger, 3b.; Hamlen, c.; Wallace, Reilly of Godin, p.
