Community Fund solicitors have set a $40,000 goal for University contributions to their annual drive beginning here this weekend.
Red Feather workers plan to solicit funds from all University faculty members and employees before the end of the campaign November 19, but student contributions will be taken through the Student Council, which annually allocates a part of its Service Fund to the drive. Last year's College contributions totaled $2,500.
President Conant, inaugurating the campaign here, declared in an open letter to members of the Harvard community:
"The Fund has earned our continued and whole-hearted support. A substantial contribution would be a splendid means of recognizing and observing our obligation to the community of which we are a part."
