Jayvees Meet Favored Yale Squad; '52 Eleven at Full Strength for Eli

Freshmen Girded for Toss-up Test Today

By Douglas M. Fouquet

A full squad of freshman football players with a running and passing attack at its season's peak has its payoff game against Yale this afternoon at Soldiers Field. And as in the case of most Crimson-Eli clashes, only one pre-game appraisal is possible: anything can happen.

Throughout the season the Crimson freshmen have been improving with every game, and the final test will come today at 2 p.m. on the varsity practice field.

Yale Better Too

But at the same time the Bulldogs have been getting better. After a dismal first half season, the Yale freshmen came to life in trimming Dartmouth three weeks ago, and last week upset a powerful Princeton squad with an aerial attack that scored a 28 to 20 win.

Against the varsity-styled "T" of the Eli yearlings, Crimson coach Henry Lamar plans to keep to same balance of passing and running in the yardlings' attack that accounted for last week's 20 to 12 victory over Brown. As usual Captain Carroll Lowenstein will be doing the team's passing, while Bob Ray, Charley Walsh and Tom Ossman are among those figuring in Lamar's ground plans.

New Manager

To make sure that things go smoothly on the sidelines, the Yardlings will have a brand new managerial corps this afternoon. David Becket Lamb '52 of Brookline finished as top man in this fall's freshmen competition and has been named to manage the game. Assisting will be Sarge Horwood, Herbert Barry, and John Pearson.

The probable Crimson lineup: Sergienko, le; Hill, it; Hanson, lg; Julian, c; Moulla, rg; Raverby, rt; Cass, re; Lowenstein and Burke, qb; Walsh, lhb; Wylie and Ossman, rhb; Ray, fb.
