Crimson Racks Up Its Third Squash Victory at Hanover

Jack Barnaby's squash team came home Saturday with their third consecutive victory behind them. But they had to struggle to beat Dartmouth 8 to 1.

The Crimson was handicapped by the absence of two of the top players, Milt Heath and George Plimpton. The team still managed to win 26 games out of 39. The games were played in cold, fast courts at Hanover, N.H.

A break-down of the scoring shows that Harvard did not walk off with an easy win. In five sets the Crimson was behind at the end of three games. Had Dartmouth taken a few points here and there, observers thought the victory could have gone to the Indians.

Captain Jim McKittrick, however, came through with his unbeaten record intact by downing his man 3 to 1. Hugh and Henry Foster, who usually do well on cold courts, also came through to win their sets.

Today the varsity travels down to MIT to play against the Engineers.

MIT had a strong man last year in Braunse, but since his graudation the team hasn't shown much promise, either in their playing or in personnel. McGill beat them 6 to 1, while Harvard downed McGill 7 to 2.

Tomorrow Harvard will take on the Agwam Hunt Club in a Metropolitan League match.

Saturday the Crimson will stay in Cambridge and play host to a Williams team.

The Dartmouth summaries:

Henry Foster (H) defeated Ringe (D), 3-2; Hugh Foster (H), defeated Stahl (D), 3-2; Clark (H) defeated Kurr(D), 3-1; McKittrick (H), defeated McGean (D), 3-0; Ames (H) defeated Feldberg (D), 3-2; Nawn (H) defeated Van Raalter (D), 3-0; Cameron (D) defeated Fischelis (H), 3-2; Loncope (H) defeated Irving (D), 3-1; Cabot (H) defeated Keese (D), 3-2.
