Automatic Walt McCurdy, who centered in on the target Tuesday night against Dartmouth, will start at guard tonight when Bill Barclay's varsity basketball team goes against Trinity in an 8:30 p.m. game at Hartford.
Ed Smith, Bill Prior, and Cliff Crosby are the other definite starters. If Crosby plays forward, Chip Gannon will team with McCurdy, but if he starts at guard, forward Pete Petrillo will line up for the opening tapoff. Lloyd Harper's freshmen play their Trinity counterparts in a preliminary game at 7:15 p.m.
Rockwell Will Not Play
As for Johnny Rockwell, he may have to sit on the bench, at least until Bill Prior cools off. "You can't keep a guy like Prior out of the game," Barclay explained yesterday. "He took 20 shots against Dartmouth and scored nine field goals."
Barclay added that the Crimson's shooting had been adequate Tuesday night against the Big Green--26 baskets in 101 tries. But Ed Leede, the Dartmouth captain, was hitting on one out of every two shots he took, putting in 12 out of 23.
It's unlikely that the varsity will run into this kind of shooting tonight, although Trinity walloped MIT by 30 points in its only start this winter.
