In football season, Chip Gannon is the Crimson's starting right halfback. Today he will lead off in the baseball team's home opener against BC. And last night 12 basketball lettermen elected him captain of next year's team.
Gannon, whose burr-tight guarding of such high-scoring players as Tony Lavelli, was a feature of this year's season, was chosen on the first ballot. He succeeds George Hauptfuhrer who, along with letterman Bill Brady, Michael Fannier, and Gunther Rosinus, graduates this year.
Although listed as a member of the Class of '50, Gannon is accelerating and has only one more year of play for the College.
Come next fall and the first basketball game, Gannon will lead a veteran team onto the floor. Returning players include starters Walt McCurdy, Bill Prior, and John Rockwell.
