Life for a picketing striker may be dull and it may be violent. For the group still roaming the sidewalks in front of the Harvard Club of New York, it is probably a little confusing.

Take the tale about one venerable Crimson alumnus. Strikes and labor unions came after his time, according to the story that reached Boston, and he misinterpreted the activity outside the club. Quitting his armchair briefly one day, he hailed a passing picket.

"Young man," he said with some belligerence, "if you don't like Harvard, why don't you go to Yale?"
