Anything done by a team after it plays Yale is bound to be an anticlimax, but the lacrosse team at least ended its mediocre season on a triumphant note by whitewashing a pugnacious Springfield ten, 9to 0.
In a pregame election, Robert Bruce Forsyth '50 of Scarsdale, N.Y., and Adams House was elected captain for the 1949 season, and William Dennis Warters '49 of Des Moines, Iowa and Dunster House was chosen to succeed himself as manager.
Saturday's tussle was all Harvard. Springfield produced a game crew of physical education students with some knowledge of the game, and though they didn't play very well, they tried hard. One brief flurry of fists and a sackful of penalties was all Springfield could stir up all afternoon.
Bob Maddux had Captain Hans Estin back at midfield for the season's last game and Paul Davidson on attack. The Crimson's nine goal total seems to attest the success of the move.
Harvard scoring: Gregg 3, Estin 2, Bezanson 2, Davidson, Page.
