WHRB Expands Present Facilities, Will Open New Studio Next Week

The Harvard Radio Network will broadcast for the first time December 15 from a new studio adjoining its present headquarters, Bradford S. Doane '50, Network president, announced last night.

Construction will not be completed until January, but the new studio will be used for regular programs after next week.

Since the new room increases WHRB's broadcasting space by over 640 square feet, it will make audience participation shows and dramatic productions at the station possible for the first time.

Add New Equipment

Included in the expansion program is the addition of new equipment to be placed in a second control booth. It will supplement regular facilities, improving transmission and reception of broadcasts. Total costs of the equipment, which is not included in the construction estimate, have not yet been computed.

According to present plans the studio will be used mainly for concerts by small musical groups, debates, and other shows for which WHRB has heretofore had to use House Common Rooms.
