Lowell Institute Broadcasts Harris' GE Course Lectures

'Recordings made this fall during the lecturer of Seymour E. Harris '20, professor of Economics, in his course "Economics for the Citizen" will be broadcast from 7:30 to 8 p.m. over WBMS-FM on Wednesday and Saturdays beginning this week. The program is part of a new public education program sponsored by the Lowell Institute Cooperative Broadcasting Council.

The Lowell Institute has frequently presented open forums with guest lecturers from local colleges, but this now program is the first time in the Boston area that such courses, recorded in the classroom, have been broadcast.

Designed for Adults

This program in educational broadcasting had been designed by the Lowell Institute of results who would like to take special courses, but who are unable to attend night school.

Harris' General Education course was selected by the Institute because it requires no prerequisites in economics for an understanding of the material. The course, open here to juniors and seniors, had section meetings, but only the lectures have been recorded on magnetic tape for broadcast.

The complete, six-day program also includes two courses given by instructors from other local universities. "Introductory Psychology" will be broadcast Monday and Tuesday evenings. It is one of the State University Extension Courses, given at Harvard Hall by Dr. Peter A. Bertocci of Boston University.

Tuesday and Friday broadcasts have been prepared from the "History of Civilization," a course delivered at Northeastern University night school by Joseph Skinner '26, professor of History at Northeastern.
