Annex AYD Refuses to List Membership; Loses Charter

Radcliffe's American Youth for Democracy chapter lost its charter yesterday afternoon at the Annex Student Council meeting.

The Council took final action on the three month old issue after the leftwing group refused to turn over a list of its members to the Deans Office as demanded by the Council and required by Annex charter rules. Only one Council member opposed the decision eliminating the AYD as a Radcliffe undergraduate organization.

Ragozin Rejects Lists

In a statement to the governing body, Nikki Ragozin '51, AYD president, rejected the latest Council proposal to submit individual club lists to the administration, with only the names of executive officers put on their permanent records. The dean had accepted this recommendation, agreeing to destroy the rosters each year.

"We feel that this proposal still permits the possibility of persecution of girls who join leftist political organizations," Miss Ragozin asserted.

Group Will Continue

Her group will continue to carry out their activities, unofficially, in conjunction with the Harvard John Reed Club.

Yesterday's Council also took up the matter of Harvard undergraduates holding executive positions on the Signature magazine staff. The general question of male membership in 'Cliffe organizations was referred to the Board of Club Presidents for investigation.
