Sophomores May Give Scholarship In Davis' Memory

The Sophomore Class will soon be asked to sponsor a scholarship as a memorial to the late Francis Llewellyn Davis '51, the Class Committee announced last night. Davis died of arthritis at his Swarthmore, Pennsylvania home on January 17.

All members of '51 will be polled tomorrow night in the dining halls to see if they favor the scholarship. The questionnaire will also ask how much they are willing to give.

According to University rules this type of scholarship must come to at least $1800 in order to pay full tuition for three years. This will mean that every sophomore will have to pledge a minimum of $2 in order to raise the required amount.

Group I Student

While at College, Davis was able to maintain a Group I standing despite the arthritis which frequently made him allow as long as 45 minutes to reach a class, Edmund J. Blake '51, a member of the committee, said last night. Davis' classes were specially chosen to give him time between them.

During his freshman year he lived in Hollis Hall.
