Student Pleads 'Not Guilty' To Dartmouth Death Charge

Thomas A. Doxsee, Dartmouth junior, pleaded not guilty yesterday to a charge of manslaughter in the first degree in the Saturday death of Raymond J. Cirrotta. The arraignment proceedings in the Hanover, New Hampshire, municipal court, lasted less than three minutes.

Doxsee is free on ball of $5000 until the case comes before the Grafton County Grand Jury, May 18. He is expected to remain at his home in Fayetteville, New York, until that time.

Doxsee's five fraternity brothers being held on $1000 bond as material witnesses did not appear in court, since there was no questioning or presentation of evidence.

An audience of 100 crowded the small courtroom above the Hanover firehouse to witness the proceedings, but fewer than a dozen Dartmouth students were present.

Student opinion throughout the college still remained heavily in favor of the defendant and his companions.
