23 Percent of Freshmen Put On Dean's List

Twenty-three percent of the Class of 1952 made the Dean's List on the basis of first term grades, the Registrar's office announced yesterday.

Of the 1345 freshmen, 313 received at least four B's which put them in Group Ill or above on the rank list

Ten of the freshmen made at least four A's and were put in Group I. They are: Peter A. Bien, of Deerfield Academy; Donald L. M. Blackmer, of Harrow School England, and Phillips Academy, Andover; Joseph P. Flemming, Jr., of Phillips Academy, Andover; Paul C. Martin, of Stuyvesant High School, New York, Gilbert R, Panzer, of Newtown High School, Elmhurst, New York; Earl C. Ravenal, of Hope High School, Providence; Neil J. Smelser, of Phoenix Union High School, Phoenix, Arizona; David K. Specter, of Brooklyn Technical High School; Isaac Thomas, Jr., of the Hill School, Pottstown, Pa.; and David B. Tyack, of Phillips Exeter Academy, Exeter, N.H.

These ten students make up .7 percent of the Freshman Class. In Group II (two A's and two B's) there is seven percent of the class. 15.6 percent made Group III (four B's) and 23.8 percent made Group IV (two B's and two C's). the largest number of students, 370, or 27.5 percent, was placed in Group V (four C's). 7.4 percent of the class is barely passing with three C's and one D, and 18 percent is in the unsatisfactory group.
