Graduation Oratory Competition Opens

Seniors and graduate students interested in competing for the honor of delivering a speech at June commencement should submit their names to Professor Mason Hammond in Kirkland House N-11.

There are generally three speeches given by students: a Latin salutatory, a senior "part" in English, and a graduate "part" in English Competitors must have taken their degree at mid-year or be candidates for degrees this June. College seniors must be candidates for honors while graduate students must have honor records.

Students who try out must submit, before April 1, a written draft of their speech, which must be either a summary of scholarly work or an original expression. Oral trials will then be held in mid-April.
