'52 Nine Opens Against MIT

Dolf Samborski's Yardling nine will take a bow at 3:45 p.m. today when it takes on its first competition of the year, the MIT freshmen.

"The talent on this squad has been spread pretty evenly," said Samborski last night. "It's been awfully hard to decide who to cut," he added.

Second baseman Win Carduff, a heavy hitter, will take over the lead-off slot.

Henry Young will start at short, although Charlie Cabot is slated to see a lot of action. Ben Akillian, a center fielder with a strong arm, will follow Young to bat. Starting pitcher Jack Donelan, one of the most dependable hitters on the squad, will bat cleanup.

First Base in Doubt

The lineup continues with right fielder Bob Thompson, third base Bill Hickey, and Ralph Robinson, left fielder. Tim Wise or Al Switzer--will start at first, depending on the condition of Wise's injured hand. Catcher Bill Goodman completes the batting order.

Outfielder Nat Harris and pitchers "Spider" Webb and John Simonds may very well see action this afternoon.

Positions on the squad, which was only able to practice outside one day before vacation, are still very unsettled, Samborski said.
