Tennis Squad Faces Strong Cornell Today

It will be a case of the green man versus the experienced man in Ithaca this afternoon when Jack Barnaby's upstart tennis team meets a strong Cornell squad.

Although it decisively beat BU, BC, and Brown last week, the Crimson is never-the less an inexperienced squad and boasts but two returning lettermen in its singles lineup. In contrast, Cornell, always, a tennis powerhouse, has only one newcomer in its lineup and among its stars is a pair of juniors nationally recognized in amateur tennis.

Considering their limited resources, Barnaby's men have shown extremely well since the start of the season, albeit against mediocre competition. But this afternoon the opposition is the defending Ivy League champion. Cornell was one of two eastern teams able to beat the Crimson last season.

The Lineup

In the singles today the Harvard lineup will be Bug Ager, Captain Tod Bullard, Charlie Ames, Hilliard Hughes, Jack Frey, and Jay Robb in that order.

The first three doubles pairs of Ager and Bullard, Ames and Hughes, and Robb and Dave Key will probably be playing this afternoon. In the past three matches the score was so high in favor of the Crimson that Barnaby was able to use some of his younger men in the late doubles, but against Cornell such an op-doubles, but against Cornell such an opportunity will probably not present itself.
