Marchie Schwartz, head football coach at Stanford, revealed last night that he would write Harvard captain Howie Houston a letter of praise for his "outstanding" performance in Saturday's game at Palo Alto.
Prefacing a speech at a San Francisco sports writers supper last night Schwartz stated that he "wasn't in the habit of writing notes to opposing players," saying that Houston had certainly proved himself of All-American caliber. Schwartz pointed out that even in the last quarter, when the game was hopelessly lost, Houston continued to make "90 percent of the key tackles and blocks."
"Houston is by far one of the best players I've ever seen," he added.
