Theodore M. Olson, Jr., of Cambridge, was held in $10,000 bail for the Middlesex Grand Jury yesterday in connection with the Christmas-week burglary of the home of Robert Haynes '22, assistant librarian at Widener.
Keys to Widener, as well as personal jewelry belonging to Haynes, were found in Olson's home, police said. Judge Arthur B. Stone, of East Cambridge District Court, found probable cause of breaking and entering in the night-time and larceny against Olson.
The burglary took place at the Haynes' home sometime between December 11 and 18 when the family was away. According to police, the presence of burnt matches beneath a broken storm window indicated a night entry.
Olson said in court yesterday that the goods found in his home were given to him by a stranger. His counsel requested that the charge be reduced to one of receiving stolen property.
