John D. Rockefeller Jr. has given $250,000 to Dartmouth for scholarships for sons of Dartmouth men who dies in the second world war, President John Sloan Dickey announced Tuesday.

Rockefeller suggested the gift be applied as endowment for the scholarships which will honor Ernest Martin Hopkins, president of the college from 1916 to 1945. Money left over once the applications of eligibles have been filled will be put into a general fund.
