'54 Soccer Team Ties Medford, O-0, in Wind

Strong south winds played havoc with both teams yesterday as the freshman soccer squad battled Medford High School to a 0 to 0 deadlock on the Business School Field.

Going with the wind, the Yardlings kept the ball in Medford territory in the first and third periods, while Medford stayed on the offense in the second and fourth quarters. Both teams failed dot break the tie in two five minute overtime periods.

Center halfback Juan Rodriguez, almost scored twice in a closing fourth quarter rally by the freshmen. His first kick, aimed at an empty goal, sailed high over the crossbar.
