Basketball Squad Tops Busy School

Dick Lionette led the basketball team to a 67 to 53 win over the Business School in a scrimmage at the Blockhouse yesterday. Playing center in place of injured Captain Ed Smith, Lionette made 39 percent of his shots for 27 points.

The varsity was behind only for the first few minutes in the regulation length game. The Busy School, although it had Norm Skinner, John Rockwell, Ferd Nadherny, Cliff Crosby, and George Sella in the starting line-up, was in only fair condition and showed lack of practice.

Two Sophs Start

Crimson coach Norm Shepard started sophomore Jim Urdan at right forward, Jim Stevenson at left forward, Jim Gabler at left guard, and Bill Hickeyatright. Smith replaced Lionette, captain of last year's freshman team, in the third quarter, but played only a few minutes before his leg began to bother him and he had to leave the game. Skinner, who started three years at Columbia, was a standout for the Business School.

Shepard may start both his tall men, Lionette and Smith, in his opening game against M.I.T. However, he will not shift back to the double pivot system that he used last year.
