Summer School Discloses Program Of Foreign Students' Scholarships

A special scholarship program will enable an increased number of foreign students--perhaps an extra 50--to attend summer school at the University this year, it was announced yesterday.

The exact number of scholarships awarded depends on how much additional help is forthcoming from foundations or government sources to pay extra expenses of the visiting students.

Organization of the new program will rest largely with a student steering committee. On November 8, four members of this committee met a similar M.I.T. group to discuss ways of co-ordinating foreign student summer programs in the two colleges.

M.I.T. has had such a project for about 75 students during the past three summers. Both summer schools want to arrange for an exchange of privileges, including attendance at regular courses.

Plans are under way to have the International Students' Union, including the International House, continued through the summer. Special seminars and courses adapted for foreign students are also under consideration.
