Salzburg Seminar Names New Head

Dexter Perkins '09, chairman of the Department of History at the University of Rochester, will take over the direction of the Salzburg Seminar this year for an indefinite term. Theexecutive committee of the Seminar made the appointment at Phillips Brooks House yesterday, upon the resignation of John W. Finch, professor of English at Dartmouth College.

The executive committee also decided to continue to select all of the student administrators of the Seminar from the Harvard undergraduate body. Most faculty assistants will be drawn from the University's graduate schools.

Recognizing that the Seminar "can no longer operate on a yearly basis," the committee adopted plans for incorporating it as "a long term educational institution meeting the continuing need for American studies in Europe."

Tonight, the Student council will vote on adopting the Salzburg Seminar as a permanent sub-group.
