Mother's Day

To the Editors of the CRIMSON:

Several years ago I had a baby in Switzerland. It was Mother's Day. Each mother in the hospital had a special cake and there was a beautiful plant brought to each mother by the head gardener himself.

I went last week to visit a friend who had had a baby on Mother's Day. I remembered Switzerland and told her I supposed there had been various festivities. She said it had not been mentioned or noticed in any way. So you see! Perhaps you will revise your Mammy editorial before hauling it out again next year. There used to be Mother's Day in pre-war Germany and probably you could find other countries equally "foolish." Leonore P. Friedrich
