Tonight Marks Close Of Spring Basketball

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Four weeks of spring basketball practice will end tonight with a full scrimmage between the graduating varsity players and those who have been working out in the nightly sessions. The scrimmage will start at 7 p.m. in the Blockhouse.

Most of next season's returning lettermen have not been out for the practices because of other spring sports, but over 40 men participated in the spring workouts.

Coach Norm Shepard, who innovated spring basketball this year, said last night that neither he nor Coach Floyd Wilson could determine yet how many varsity selections can be made from this group. He added that "spring basketball will give us a better line on the material that reports in the fall."

Shepard has conducted most of the practices himself, despite his duties as jayvee football coach. Wilson and letterman Dick Covey have also coached the sessions.
