Radcliffe Cedar Hill Conference Forms New Room-Assigning Plan

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Radcliffe upperclassmen will have a new room assignment method next spring, provided the Student Council approves a plan drawn up last week by delegates to the 'Cliffe's annual Cedar Hill policy conference.

The 68 delegates to the three-day session proposed that members of a group wishing to move together must register with the Dean of Residence before drawing room lots. Girls in the group would, then move on the lowest number drawn by a member.

Individuals and roommates will move on the one number they draw. The new plan, delegates agreed, would avoid previous large scale cashing-in on one student's low number which occurred when groups were allowed to form after drawing of room lots.

An additional improvement suggested regarding room drawing would guarantee that girls in an off-campus house could return to dormitories they were in during their freshman year.

If these girls should choose another dorm, they would then be governed by the same room assignment methods as the rest of the College.

Inauguration of a Radcliffe parents' day or weekend was also raised by delegates. Emphasis during the event would be on visiting classes and seeing Radcliffe in action.

Robert's Rules

A proposal to require club presidents and student officers to learn the Robert's Rules of Order also went on the conference docket. This measure, students felt, would speed handling of debate issues.

Student delegates delayed decision on the question of whether team sports at the 'Cliffe should be counted at part of the regular gym requirement to the Athletic Association. This question will be taken up by the group during the fall. The Association will also consider setting up a student board to hear appeals on physical education pro.

Other issues dealt with included setting up a "commuter cousin's" plan to improve dorm-commuter relations, and methods of streamlining the faculty-affiliate program.
