Parietal Petition Tabled by Council

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Graduate Student Council last night shelved a petition, containing 180-odd signatures, for revision of the Graduate School's parietal rules. The petition appeared on the bulletin board of Harkness Commons in December, following a Law School Record editorial on parietal regulations.

Under the present rules, students may entertain women guests in their rooms from 5 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Fridays; 12 noon to 12:30 a.m. Saturdays; 12 noon to 9 p.m. Sundays; and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. other weekdays.

President Edward H. Snyder 3L announced that the council also decided to hold two semi-formal dances in the Graduate Center this semester, the tentative date for the first being February 17. Tickets are now being sold for both dances.

Record dances every Saturday evening are also planned. The council's move to sponsor dances, formerly organized by P.B.H., is an effort to reduce entertainment costs.
