Ahead by eight points at the half, Holworthy barely squeaked through to a 15 to 14 victory over Thayer South in the playoffs of the Yard American Basketball League last night.
The action was fast and hard-fought, especially in the second half when Thayer stole the ball repeatedly to close the gap. Holworthy, which couldn't seem to miss any shots before the intermission, was hard put to hold its narrowing lead.
Bob Hardy led the winners with five points while his temmates scored evenly behind him. Jim Donovan led Thayer with three long sets and a foul for seven markers. In another game, Thayer Middle edged Wigglesworth East, 22 to 20.
