Garber Privately Tells Faculty That Harvard Must Rethink Messaging After GOP Victory
A golden opportunity for an Eastern League victory will present itself to the varsity basketball team tonight in the guise of a bedraggled Dartmouth team which moves onto the Blockhouse floor at 8:30 p.m. While Harvard has won but four of its games, the Big Green has managed to lose ten of its 11 games played.
Crimson coach Norm Shepard will start Gerry Murphy, Bill Hickey, Jim Gabler, and Ed Smith. He is as yet undecided as to whether he will open with John Stevenson or Dick Lionette at center.
In his first year at the Hanover school, Alvin "Doggy" Jullan has inherited a losing tradition and little else. Dartmouth's three top scorers from last year have graduated, and no outstanding sophomore talent has appeared.
Captain Bob Hustek, Jullan's best play maker will play one guard, while high scorer Bill Biggs takes the other. Six foot five Jim Ballard is the starting center, and Kent Calhoun will start at forward. Jim Cobb, nursing an academic injury, will be replaced at the other forward by Roger Pierce.
The sharp-shooting Crimson freshmen meet B.U. at 6:30 p.m.
