College Approves 38 Rhodes Bids; Increase of 12 Over Last Year

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

College officials have approved 38 Rhodes Scholarship applications, assistant dean MacDonald announced yesterday. This is 12 more than last year.

The scholarships are for a year's term of study at Oxford University, England. Only 32 men are chosen from the country to receive these awards. Last year, two seniors won scholarships.

The committee that screens the applications commented that many good men never apply for the stipends because the competitions are held too early in the year. A student must decide by October whether he wants to study in England to apply for an award.
