Network Readies Plans for Hookup With Med School

WHRB hopes to start broadcasting to the Medical School in Boston by the beginning of next term, Network technical director William R. Lamb '52 announced yesterday.

Designs and plans for the new Medical School transmitter are almost complete, Lamb told the CRIMSON, and construction will begin this week. He said WHRB hopes to have the transmitter installed for test broadcasts shortly before Christmas vacation. The transmitter would be operated entirely by remote control, he added.

Meanwhile, the projected cable tie-up to link numerous University buildings and the new Lowell Institute FM station, WGBH, may be delayed for some time due to materials shortages. David H. Kaye '54, who is coordinating the project for WHRB, said the Network technicians engaged in laying the cable might not get the needed wires until the second quarter of 1952.

Kaye also said that the University has not yet begun construction of the tunnel from the Busch-Reisinger Museum to Converse Hall, which would be needed before the system can be installed.
