Dr Kirtley F. Mather, professor of Geology, announced yesterday that he has written "about 30" Protestant ministers, asking them to invite to their community gatherings Dirk J. Struik, M.I.T. professor of Mathematics, under indictment as a Communist.
Struik, charged under a state law for "promotion of anarchy," has been suspended from the M.I.T. faculty pending the outcome of his case.
The Reverend Dr. Alexander St.-Ivanyi of the First Church of Jamaica Plain, Unitarian, replied that the invitation "seems like a propaganda trip."
