Rain, Snow, Big Wind Pounce on Cambridge

As New England bowed to its first autumn monsoon over the weekend, the University witnessed winds of 60 miles per hour and heavy rains totalling almost two inches. Students who could find hip boots waded through four inches of water covering Boylston Street. Others raced about to buy antifreeze or drain radiators when the thermometer dove to 32 degrees.

The Department of Buildings and Grounds said that the extent of damage would not be known until today. Dunster men found a large tree down near their House, and football players saw fences give way and bleachers fall apart on the practice fields.
