Student Dances Limited by Brown

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

For the second time in a week, Brown University cracked down on extra-curricular affairs. The latest ruling, passed Thursday, limits fraternities to six informal and one formal party each term.

Last Monday, Brown officials placed on probation a features writer on the undergraduate paper for writing a satirical column on the University's rule forbidding undergraduates to marry without permission from the Dean's Office.

Officials said the latest move will improve fraternity scholastic standings which, they say, have been below the University average during the last years.

Several fraternities opposed the plan in what was described as a heated discussion. They claim that a voluntary agreement could have been completed with University officials.
