A sudden surge of candidates for the 1951 Permanent Class Committee sent the number from none on Tuesday to 53 at the 5 p.m. deadline yesterday afternoon.
Elections take place at the end of next week, although the exact day has not yet been set. The Council changed the electoral procedure Monday, when it decided to have the committee elected by plurality ballot. The Class Marshals will be chosen by the preferential vote among the 12 elected to the committee.
