Kirtley F. Mather, professor of Geology, said last night that Boston Herald columnist W. E. Mullins has misstated his position on the legality of legislative bodies conducting Communist investigations. Mather would not comment further, but said he would send Mullins a letter on the matter shortly.
According to Mullins' column yesterday, Mather "has virtually challenged the legal right of legislative and Congressional committees to engage in these inquiries. He has even cited statutory authority to sustain his stand."
