J.V., Yard Crews Defeat MIT, BU Shells on Charles

Crimson crews extended their supremacy over the local opposition Saturday afternoon on the Charles when the junior varsity and freshman eights beat Tech and B.U. by comfortable margins. The Harvard varsity had already defeated the Engineer and Terrier varsities Thursday, although it lost to Cambridge.

In a two-crew race Tom Bolles' javees had no trouble with M.I.T., winning by five and one half lengths. The Crimson time was 9:13.5, with Tech clocked at 9:36.

It was not quite so easy for the Yardlings. They beat Tech by a length and three-quarters, with the Terrier pups three lengths behind the Engineers. Row- ing a half hour earlier than the Jayvees, Harvey Love's boys took advantage of very fast conditions--the following wind plus smooth water--to turn in a 9:04 time. Tech was timed at 9:00, and B.U. at 9:22.
