Baseball Team Travels to Ithaca for Cornell Game

Akillian Will Make Trip

Fifteen members of the varsity baseball team will leave for Ithaca tonight to meet Cornell Saturday in Harvard's last game until after exam period.

A win over Dartmouth at Hanover on Wednesday carried the Big Red nine into a three-way tie with Navy and Princeton for second place in the fight for the Eastern Intercollegiate Baseball League title.

Each of the three squads has a five-and-two record in the ten-team loop. Brown is currently leading with six wins and two losses. The Crimson's league record is one-and-four.

Left fielder Bennie Akillian, who was struck on the forehead by a thrown ball in Wednesday's Northeastern contest, is making the trip and will undoubtedly start the game. Bob Ward will be on the mound for the Crimson.

Top Hurier Improves

Cornell has a powerful club, and only temporary pitching lapses have kept it from a better record. The most dependable pitcher, right-hander Eddie Winnick, was bothered by a pulled muscle earlier in the season but has become increasingly effective.

Football star Jeff Fleischmann and basketball player Red Chadwick lead the Big Red in batting; Rip Haley and Billy Whelan are exceptionally fast on the bases.
