A sophomore, Charles Wilbur Ufford, Jr., of Haverford, Pennsylvania, and Lowell House has been elected captain of the 1952 varsity tennis team. Ufford played first singles for the varsity this year after competing in that position for the freshmen in 1950.
Ufford's record this year was 4-3 in singles. He also played doubles in most of the matches, either in the first or second positions. Last year, he was runner-up with Art French in the Eastern Freshmen Intercollegiate tennis tournament.
Ufford also played number three on the undefeated squash team and contributed to the team's national championship victory at Chicago last winter.
