For the first time since the War, local squash enthusiasts will be able to participate in a University Squash Tournament, varsity squash Coach Jack Barnaby announced yesterday.

"This is a completely open tournament," Barnaby said. "We want to invite anybody interested in the game, no matter what his ability. Anybody who plays squash, including all graduate students and faculty members, is eligible and welcome."

The tournament will be run off some time soon after the new term starts, Barnaby said, and will probably be played in Hemenway Gym. Barnaby plans to have the draw completed by February 4.

An added fillip to the tournay's renaissance is the donation of a trophy by Rockwood, Hugh, and Henry Foster, brothers who were all captain of Crimson squash teams. Henry, captain of last year's National Championship team, is current Intercollegiate Singles Champion.

Any member of the University may sign up for the tournament at the Tennis and Squash Shop, 67A Mount Auburn Street.

"The trophy will be permanently awarded to the winner," Barnaby said. "In addition, his name will be inscribed on the board in the lounge of the University Courts where the pre-war champions' names are."

Barnaby will seed the top players and will try to spread the known outstanding players as equitably as possible.

"But people shouldn't assume that the champion will necessarily be a member of the varsity," he warned. "After all, there are some pretty fair former intercollegiate players in the various grad schools."
