Students would have to pay only half fare on the M.T.A. under the provisions of a bill to be filed in the State House of Representatives next week. Belden G. Bly, Jr., sponsor of the bill, yesterday urged all interested college students to attend the hearing, which will be at the State House at 10:30 a.m. this Wednesday.
Bly, who represents the 11th Essex District, filed a similar bill last year, but it failed to pass. The House committee on transportation reported unfavorably on the measure, and it was killed in the House. Bly states that "this year, to lesson the opposition to the bill, it affects only the M.T.A.
Last year's bill produced a mass demonstration on the part of students from local colleges, including a delegation from the Commuters' Center. The demonstration was climaxed by a monster parade to the State House.
