Varsity Squash Teams Win Twice But Ufford Bows to Salaun, 3-1

Although Charley Ufford, intercollegiate squash champion, lost his match yesterday afternoon to Henri Salaun, ranked number two nationally, the Crimson squash players won every other match and came up with victories over both the Harvard Club and the University Club.

Playing number one for the Harvard "Reds" in a three-match contest. Ufford forced Salaun to four games before tiring and losing. He took the first game, 18 to 14, but lost the next three, 15-9, 15-7, and 15-9. Salaun exhibited great resiliency and bounce, and his corner shots and change of pace were exceptional.

Dave Symmes at number two had to go five games before beating Lyman Olmstead of the University Club, 17-14, 12-15, 9-15, 15-12, and 16-15. Altie Flagg brought the Crimson a two to one victory by defeating Dave Gorman, 16-14, 12-15, 15-7, and 15-11 in the third match.

Against the Harvard Club "Whites" the varsity "Whites" won all three matches. Muggsy Mugaseth beat Hugh Nawn, 12-15, 15-7, 13-15, 15-8, 15-8, and Dave Watts at number three defeated George Livingston, 12-15, 15-12, 15-10, 3-15, and 15-8. Captain Jim Bacon, playing number two, beat Milt Street of the Harvard Club before vacation to give the Crimson a shutout.

Freshmen Win

Two freshman teams also won yesterday, defeating Trinity College School of Port Hope, Ontario, Canada, 4 to 1, and 3 to 2.
