Cancer research at the University received a boost from the American Cancer Society yesterday, the largest part of a $283,000 grant. This total was divided among five New England institutions.

The University, with $107,000, was followed by Massachusetts General Hospital with $105,000, Tufts College with $50,000, the Worcester Foundation for Experimental Biology with $16,000, and the Polaroid Foundation with $5,000.

The current grant is higher than last year, when the Cancer Society gave $93.000.
