David H. Bodiker, of Matthews and Dayton, Ohio, was elected freshman football captain yesterday afternoon at a meeting of both A and B squads.
Bodiker, a national scholar, is starting Yardling center and linebacker, and turned in a fine defensive performance in the team's 13 to 0 win over Worcester Academy.
He made the Dayton all-city team for two straight years when he was playing center for Kiser high school, and in his senior year, was placed on the second all-state team. Bodiker also played basketball and baseball at Kiser, making the all-city basketball team in his senior year.
Freshman coach Bob Margarita yesterday termed his election a "fine choice; he's a good boy."
Last year's Yardling captain, Time Anderson, graduated to the varsity this season and has seen considerable service at right guard on the offensive team during the first few games.
Anderson is the replacement for veteran guard Eli Manos, who injured his ankle early in the season and has seen only limited game action since.
