Works 12-Hour Day
With the aid of her husband and several University professors, Mrs. Newman has been waging an aggressive campaign. She has been averaging close to twelve hours work a day, including a lot of house-to-house campaigning.
Most active supporters of Mrs. Newman's campaign have been Arthur N. Holcombe '06, Eaton Professor of Government, and Zacharish Chafee, Jr. University Professor, along with Jerome B. Wiesner, Director of the Research Laboratory of Electronics at M. I. T.
The Second Middlesex District was created in 1940 and voted Republican is every election until 1950 when present incumbants Francis Good and Walter Sullivan were elected.
