Brown Frats Suspect Local Men in Robbery

Brown University last week wrote the Dean's Office to "seek information" on the rumor that Harvard students stole six fraternity House flags the weekend of November 15.

"This is not an official protest," Dean of Students Edward Durgin said last night, "for I have no proof that Harvard men were responsible. I merely wrote to Associate Dean Robert B. Watson '38 for information."

Thomas Glidden, president of Beta Theta Pi last week told the Brown Buildings and Grounds department, that he suspected members of Sigma Alpha Epsilon of stealing the flags "in what was apparently a planned thing."

No Proof

The Bruin inter fraternity Governing Board met Tuesday, but was unable to find any proof of who was responsible. Otherwise, Durgin termed the weekend "orderly."

These fraternities reporting flags missing were Phi Delia Theta, Reta Theta Pi Delta Upsilon, Zeta Psi Theta Delta chi and Phi Gamma Delia.

Phi Kappa Psi and Alpha Delia Phi claimed they thwarted repeated attempts to steal their flags.

The mysterious disappearances of the flags caused the Brown Datly Herald to take a dum view of the weekends festivities; modified however by the virtual vationaliration vetionaltration that it could have been worse.
