Squash Team Seeks Second Win Over Union Boat Club

Two veterans and the newcomers will be in the varsity squash lineup this afternoon when the squad meets the Union Boat Club at 3 p.m. in Hemenway Gymnasium.

Charlic Ufford, intercollegiate squash champion and Dave Watts last year's second man will be at the one and two spots respectively.

But the next three men have seen very little varsity competition. Hadden Tomes, number three man, never played squash before entering Harvard, but has won all his challenge matches this year by decisive scores.

Fourth and fifth men Charlie Eliot and Larry Brownell saw very little action last year. They match when two of the top men became ill.

Ufford, who was soccer captain during the fall, has started practicing only recently. He will face Roger Bakey, sixth ranking player in the nation and second in the state. Bakey is ahead of Ufford in the state rankings but behind him nationally. He has been practicing all fall but is suffering from a bad back.

Since this is a Metropolitan League meeting only five men will play. In intercollegiate matches, nine men are entered. At the present time Guy Paschal, highest ranking sophomore, is sixth. John Ward is seventh and John Rauh eighth. Ed Rose, Steve Sonnabend, and Bill Wister are all in the running for the ninth spot.
