Forty-two undergraduates will compete for the $145 in prizes offered in the Boylston Public Speaking Contest. Frederick C. Packard, Jr., associate professor of Public Speaking, said last night. Deadline for entries was yesterday afternoon.

Prize candidates must memorize an English, Latin, or Greek selection of five to seven minutes in length. This year boasts only one Latin piece and no Greek passages.

The preliminary competition takes place from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, in Paine Hall. At this time, ten men will be chosen for the public finals two weeks later.
